Saving in Rich Text Format (RTF)

If your word processing software at home does not match what we have at school (Word), you should save your word processing file in Rich Text Format (RTF) so it can be opened on our computers here at NMBHS.

Here's how:

  1. Key in (type) what you need to type.
  2. When it’s time to save, follow the photo below:
    1. do a “Save As”
    2. click the little down arrow next to: ”Save as type:” (see red arrow)
    3. scroll down the list that appears and select (see green arrow)
    4. Click the Save button, and you file should save as an RTF File.

       3. Bring the file to school, and it should open on our computers that have Word on them.

Note: You may lose some fancy formatting, or if you insert images into your document, they may be lost when you save in RTF. RTF works well with plain word processing text.
